my journey from small town Indiana to veterinary school on an island.

Hello All,

Sorry I have not kept in contact lately, but I have been in the process of researching and purchasing a beautiful Macbook Pro. Since undergrad I have regretted not getting one – now the day has finally come! I am adjusting well to the new switch and am still trying to learn my way around the setup.

Choosing a laptop for veterinary school and beyond really took a lot of consideration, countless discussions with my dad and computer consultants, and hours inside the apple store. The big move was encouraged by St. George’s. They recommend a Macbook due to their reliability – which is especially important since we take ALL of our exams on our computers through an exam software.

I needed a laptop with an ethernet port (the air lacks) because there is not any wi-fi in the dorms (cement walls make the connection difficult to obtain). I also know that MacBooks have a longer battery life, and cd-rom drive. I went with the 13″ because I do enjoy petite computers. The 15″ MacBooks are gigantic and HEAVY!

I also decided to jump up to the 2.9 GHz upgraded 13″. I know this may not have been completely necessary, but I take a lot of photos and am purchasing a new digital camera (look out for a dilemma blog about that) which will have larger file sizes and take up more space – I already have thousands of photos from the last 4 years.

Anyways, it feels great to have the burden of making this huge purchase out of the way! Sorry PC people, I have switched over the dark side – and its glorious. ImageImage
